A Start in Preserving the Ruins

A small section of the outer wall of Turmhölzle Castle remains. It was in danger of collapsing entirely.

Several members of the Friends of Turmhölzle took part in filling in the three gaps in the wall. The gaps were filled using dry-stone walling techniques. This made the work easy to carry out and also reversible, which is important in view of a future restoration of the masonry.
The filling serves to stabilize the wall and prevent any further imminent collapse. In the dry-stone wall, many of the dislodged stones were returned to their original positions.

This marks the beginning of efforts to preserve the ruins.
